Real Madrid and RB Leipzig resume negotiations for Yan Diomandé

Still under contract with Leipzig, the Ivorian winger is waiting for a definitive agreement before heading to Madrid for his medical.

Yan Diomandé's transfer to Real Madrid has entered a new phase. According to Sky Germany, Madrid officials and their RB Leipzig counterparts are set to resume negotiations this Tuesday in hopes of reaching a final agreement. The goal is to allow the 19-year-old to quickly travel to Spain, where his medical and contract signing await.

Real Madrid had already made an initial offer for Yan Diomandé, estimated at €100 million, including ten million in bonuses. This proposal was rejected by Leipzig, who are holding out for around €130 million. A preliminary agreement between Real Madrid and Leipzig was later announced, but a definitive deal has yet to be reached.

A potential €110 million profit

The amount demanded by Leipzig is explained by the explosive rise of the Ivorian international. Signed from Leganés for about €20 million in July 2025, Diomandé has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. In the Bundesliga, he tallied 12 goals and eight assists in 33 matches.

A €130 million sale would allow the German club to pocket a gross profit close to €110 million in just one season. His dribbling prowess, blistering pace, and ability to beat defenders are among the reasons why José Mourinho has reportedly made him a top attacking priority.

A dispute between representatives to resolve

The price tag isn’t the only obstacle. Maxidel Management, Diomandé’s former agency led by Max Gradel, has reportedly initiated proceedings with FIFA over the player’s representation rights. The Ivorian is now advised by Roc Nation, the agency currently handling discussions with Real Madrid and Leipzig.

Marcel Schäfer, sporting director of the German club, has downplayed the impact of this dispute on the transfer. The next round of talks will focus primarily on agreeing the financial structure of the deal. Until a formal agreement is reached, Diomandé officially remains a Leipzig player.
