Real Madrid: Bernardo Silva reflects on his decision to join José Mourinho
After his contract with Manchester City expired, Bernardo Silva had several enticing offers on the table. Although FC Barcelona tracked him, the Portuguese star ultimately chose José Mourinho’s Real Madrid.
The versatile Portuguese attacking midfielder has decided to join Real Madrid. On Monday, Bernardo Silva took his first steps with Los Blancos. Speaking to the club’s media, the former Manchester City man made a revealing admission: he "did not hesitate for a single second" before saying yes to the Merengues.
"This is a very special moment and I’m extremely happy to be here. There’s no need to talk about this club—its history speaks for itself. I’m delighted to get started and to try to help this team keep winning, something it does so well. (...) When Real came calling, it was impossible for me to say no; I didn’t hesitate for a single second. Having played against Real many times, you feel just how incredible it is to be here, how impressive the Santiago Bernabéu is. Being close to my family, so near Portugal, in a very similar culture, that helps—and the dream of playing for the greatest club in football history is a privilege," said the former Monaco player in an interview with Real Madrid TV.
