Chelsea will have to rethink their strategy. In search of a potential successor to Marc Cucurella, the London club reportedly added Álvaro Carreras to their shortlist. But Real Madrid has no intention of opening any negotiations for their defender this summer.

According to AS, the Madrid board considers Carreras untouchable. Signed last summer from Benfica for around €50 million, the Spaniard penned a six-year deal with Los Merengues. Internally, he is still seen as a cornerstone for the club's future.

José Mourinho is counting on him in particular to heat up the competition at left-back, where he will have to battle Cucurella for the starting spot. Despite rumors suggesting a price tag around €50 million, Real Madrid has no intention of selling Álvaro Carreras during this transfer window.
