Real Madrid: Dani Ceballos heads for a new challenge
Dani Ceballos is edging closer to leaving Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. The Spanish midfielder is no longer a priority for the Madrid coaching staff and could be set for a fresh challenge in the coming weeks.
Having joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2017 from Real Betis, Ceballos has struggled to secure a permanent place in the Madrid squad. Last season, the Spanish international featured in 23 matches across all competitions without scoring or providing a single assist.
Ajax and Real Madrid in negotiations over Dani Ceballos
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Ajax Amsterdam have opened talks for the transfer of Dani Ceballos this summer.
The Italian journalist notes that the 29-year-old has been one of the Dutch club’s main targets since May. Ajax's technical staff are said to value his top-level experience and his profile, which could bring extra control to their midfield.
The same source adds that a departure for Ceballos now seems increasingly likely, given the fierce competition in Real Madrid’s midfield, which has drastically limited his playing opportunities.
Ajax are now hoping to reach an agreement with both the player and the Madrid club in the coming weeks in order to seal the deal before the start of the new season.
