Real Madrid: First doubts surround Arbeloa

Hardly settled into the Real Madrid dugout, Álvaro Arbeloa is already struggling to unite the squad. Appointed in January to succeed Xabi Alonso, the former Castilla coach is enduring a tricky first month, marked by disappointing results and a style of play considered below Madrid’s lofty standards.

According to Cadena SER, while the day-to-day atmosphere has improved, deep-seated doubts remain. Journalist Anton Meana explains:

“The daily mood is much better, there’s a totally different vibe (…) but some players find Arbeloa too close to the group.”

Bold choices, such as certain lineups and substitutions, have surprised a dressing room used to having its say.

Still according to Meana,

“when the players see the lineups and the changes, I won’t say they’re smiling… but almost.”

Despite being close to FC Barcelona in the standings and boasting stars like Kylian Mbappé, tactical discomfort lingers, casting doubt on Arbeloa’s ability to quickly stamp his authority on the team.
