Though he once guarded the net for Real Madrid, Santiago Cañizares has launched a particularly harsh attack on Vinicius Junior.

While the Brazilian winger just extended his contract until June 2032 a few days ago, the Spaniard claims that Los Merengues actually had no option to sell him this summer. "Nobody wanted him. No one wants a player like that in their club. I don't think he received any offers. Real Madrid was forced to extend his contract, because no team contacted him or his agent. Nobody wants a player with that profile. Well, maybe a smaller club... Newcastle," Santiago Cañizares stated on El Partidazo de COPE.

A very harsh statement about Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian international was even criticized in Spain for his behavior during the win over Espanyol (1-2). That was last Saturday in Real Madrid's opening match of the 2026-2027 LaLiga season.
