Real Madrid: Franco Mastantuono set for loan move to Serie A

Just one year after joining Real Madrid, Franco Mastantuono could already be on the move again. The young Argentine international is in advanced talks with Fiorentina over a loan move aimed at reigniting his development.

Fiorentina in pole position

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina are currently negotiating with Real Madrid to secure the loan of Franco Mastantuono. Both clubs are still ironing out the final details of the deal, particularly how the player's wages will be split.

The loan is not expected to include a purchase option, a sign that Madrid’s management still believe in the potential of their young attacking midfielder despite a challenging first season.

A tough adaptation at Real Madrid

Signed for around €45 million from River Plate, Mastantuono was seen as one of South America’s brightest prospects. He was also courted by Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain before ultimately choosing to join Los Blancos.

But the leap to elite European football proved more difficult than expected. In his debut season, the 19-year-old featured in 35 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing one assist, but failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

An opportunity to bounce back in Serie A

Fiorentina hope to offer the Argentine a more nurturing environment for his development. The Italian side is known for giving young talents plenty of playing time and sees Mastantuono as a player who can inject creativity and drive in the final third.

Under contract with Real Madrid until June 2031, the Argentine remains a major investment for the Spanish giants. If the young midfielder can regain the confidence and consistency that made his name in Argentina, Fiorentina could benefit from an exceptional talent—while Real Madrid would welcome back a much more mature player at the end of his loan spell.
