Real Madrid: José Mourinho explains his stance on Mbappé
At a press conference, José Mourinho did not appreciate the criticism aimed at Kylian Mbappé.
While the Real Madrid forward injured his left knee with the France national team at the end of September, the player sparked controversy after going to a nightclub in Paris and taking a bike ride in Switzerland during his recovery. His outings were deemed unprofessional by some of the Spanish press and Real Madrid supporters.
Asked about the matter on Friday ahead of the visit of Villarreal, José Mourinho firmly defended his player while condemning the media frenzy.

"Exaggerated? It's ridiculous! I will always defend a footballer. He is a human being, a boy who can make mistakes. (...) Kylian was there, he underwent the tests, he consulted an outside specialist about his knee. He followed a recovery programme whose details you do not need to know. You went looking for problems. You talked about the nightclub, then the bike episode. Afterwards, you moved on to less serious cases, such as Dean Huijsen's. I find it ridiculous. (...) This is the first time in ten years that we have had no injured players, apart from those out long term. It's a beautiful story, but you don't like it," the Special One said at a press conference.
