Real Madrid: José Mourinho hit with an early setback
Real Madrid faces its first setback even before the season has officially kicked off. Young midfielder Tiago Pitarch picked up an injury during his very first training session with the senior squad at the Alfredo Di Stéfano training complex.
Tiago Pitarch sidelined for six weeks
According to Fabrizio Romano, the promising Madrid youngster sustained a knee injury during the session. He is already expected to be out of action for six weeks.
The Italian journalist detailed on his official (X) account:
" Thiago Pitarch has suffered a knee injury on Real Madrid first training session.
He’s expected to be out until the beginning of September, reports @aranchamobile."
Last season, Tiago Pitarch made his mark by featuring in 38 matches across all competitions. He scored twice and provided five assists, all while getting his first taste of La Liga and the Champions League with the first team.
Real Madrid will kick off their La Liga campaign on August 22, away against Espanyol.
