Real Madrid: José Mourinho's vision for Arda Güler

Could Arda Güler become the new Luka Modric at Real Madrid? José Mourinho is absolutely convinced.

Although he was developed in a more attacking role, Real Madrid’s versatile midfielder Arda Güler is expected to take up a central role under manager José Mourinho. In his interview with El Chiringuito, the Portuguese tactician laid out his vision for the Turkish international’s development.

"Can he take over from Modric and Kroos? There’s only one Luka and one Toni. I adore him. I think he’ll have a similar trajectory to Modric or Bernardo Silva. You start in one position and finish in another. You begin as a number 10 and end up as an 8 or even a 6. I believe Arda will head in that direction as he evolves and understands the game," said the Special One.

The Turkish international will certainly be one to watch in the 2026-2027 season.
