Real Madrid: Mourinho's first demands revealed
José Mourinho has yet to be officially unveiled, but the outlines of his future Real Madrid are already taking shape. With key signings in mind and potential departures on the table, the Portuguese tactician is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of the Merengue squad.
Although Mourinho hasn't put pen to paper yet, his project in Madrid is already gathering momentum. According to Cadena Ser, the Special One has two top priorities to bolster Real Madrid's midfield: Vitinha, PSG's midfield metronome—though considered "very difficult to acquire"—and Mateus Fernandes, West Ham's highly-rated talent valued at around €100 million. The Hammers' relegation to the Championship could, however, make negotiations easier.
Meanwhile, the squad clear-out is becoming more defined. Camavinga, Fran García, Mastantuono, Brahim Díaz, Gonzalo García, Raúl Asensio, and Ceballos are not part of the Portuguese manager's plans.
As a result, Real Madrid's summer transfer window is shaping up to be drastic: targeted arrivals, sweeping departures. The Mourinho era, part two, is already underway before the first whistle has even blown.
