Real Madrid: Raul Asencio injured
Another setback for Real Madrid. Following the injury of young Thiago Pitarch, the Madrid club has announced that Raul Asencio is also suffering from a muscle injury to the right rectus femoris of his thigh.
Starting last Tuesday in Real Madrid's friendly win over Leganés (4-1), the central defender was forced off at half-time. According to several Spanish sources, he could be sidelined for up to 6 weeks.
“Following the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid medical staff on our player Raúl Asencio, a muscle injury to the right rectus femoris has been diagnosed. His recovery will be closely monitored.”, the club Real Madrid announced on Thursday.
This is yet another blow at a crucial moment for Asencio. Competing with Dean Huijsen, Eder Militao, Antonio Rüdiger, and Ibrahima Konaté, while the management was pushing him toward the exit, the Spanish defender was determined to convince new manager José Mourinho that he deserved a place in the squad. Now, his plans have taken a hit.
