Real Madrid rekindles interest in Ibrahima Konaté

Real Madrid is looking to strengthen its central defense this summer and has revived an old target: Ibrahima Konaté. The French international from Liverpool is once again in the sights of the Spanish club, according to ESPN.

For a long time, Dayot Upamecano was Madrid’s top priority, but after his contract extension with Bayern Munich, he is no longer an option. The Madrid board is now turning its attention to Konaté, who has been on their radar before. The 26-year-old defender could become a free agent at the end of the season, increasing Real’s interest. He is already permitted to negotiate with other clubs.

However, the deal hinges on a crucial factor: finances. To join Madrid, Konaté will have to revise his salary demands. After joining Liverpool in 2021, the former RB Leipzig player remains a serious option to bolster Madrid’s backline.
