Real Madrid: Talks Advance Over Thibaut Courtois Contract Extension

Real Madrid are closing in on an agreement to extend the contract of Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois until June 30, 2028. His current deal with the Spanish giants expires next June, when Courtois will turn 34.

Agreement Near to Keep Courtois at Real Madrid Until 2028

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid opened talks with Courtois last July, and negotiations have made significant progress in recent weeks.

The club does not want to wait until the end of the season to make a decision on the Belgian goalkeeper’s future having concluded that there is currently no goalkeeper on the market capable of offering a better option than Courtois.

The Belgian continues to enjoy the full confidence of Real Madrid’s hierarchy, particularly after delivering a series of impressive performances in recent matches. One of his standout displays came against Inter when he made seven saves.

Courtois joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of around €35 million.

Since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu, the Belgian goalkeeper has made 339 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions, conceding 330 goals and keeping 130 clean sheets.
