Rennes are already planning for the summer window, with Abdou Diallo emerging as a key target to strengthen their central defence. According to Média Sportif, the Breton club are in search of an experienced centre‑back capable of bringing stability to a backline that has struggled at times this season.

The 30‑year‑old Senegal international, who has previously played for PSG and Borussia Dortmund, is coming to the end of his contract with Al Arabi after a loan spell at Umm Salal. His deal expires on 30 June, making him a free agent — a significant opportunity for Rennes.

Head coach Franck Haise is said to value Diallo’s top‑level experience and leadership qualities, with the aim of giving him a prominent role to organise the defence and bring greater composure to the side.

A move would represent a return to European football for Diallo, and for Rennes, the signing of a seasoned international on a free transfer could prove shrewd business. The coming weeks will determine whether the Senegalese defender is the answer to their defensive concerns.
