FC Barcelona is letting go one of its most promising young goalkeepers. Áron Yaakobishvili, 20, has signed with Almería on a loan deal, with an option for the Andalusian club to acquire 50% of his rights starting in 2027.

A new chapter for the young Hungarian

Trained at La Masia, Áron Yaakobishvili was considered one of the most intriguing goalkeepers to come out of Barcelona’s academy. However, he found himself in a challenging position in the first-team hierarchy, behind Joan García and Wojciech Szczęsny. To further his development, the Hungarian shot-stopper will now experience Spain’s second division with Almería.

The main objective will, of course, be to get much more playing time. Last season, he was already loaned to FC Andorra, where he played 21 matches. His stats still leave room for improvement, with 29 goals conceded and just three clean sheets.

Almería secures an option on his rights

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes a clause allowing Almería to acquire 50% of the player’s rights from 2027. Barça still retains control of the situation for now, as Yaakobishvili remains under contract with the Catalan club until June 30, 2028.

Several clubs had previously shown interest in his profile, including Levante, Mallorca, Racing Santander and even Inter Milan. For Barça, the aim now will be to closely monitor his progress before making a final decision on his long-term future.
