Rulani Mokwena masterminded a 3-0 victory over Ghazl Al Mahalla in the Egyptian Premier League in his first official game in charge of Pyramids FC.

The 2025 African champions broke the deadlock through Odeh Fakhouri, who pounced on an assist from Mohamed Chibi in the 41st minute.

Having started the first half slow, Pyramids upped the ante in the second stanza and were rewarded as Nasser Maher doubled the lead in the 67th minute.

Mokwena's men put the game to bed seven minutes later as Chibi turned provider once again, this time to Zalaka, who rounded up the scoring.

Pyramids currently sit at the summit of the Egyptian Premier League standings after one match played, with the 2026/27 campaign gathering steam.

The South African tactician was appointed last month, succeeding Krunoslav Jurcic, who guided the Egyptian club to CAF Champions League glory last year.

He has been tasked with clinching the coveted Champions League trophy, lift the Egyptian Premier League, and win domestic cup titles at the big spenders.

Mokwena and his troops return to action with a league tie against newly promoted Abo Qir Semad on Thursday, 27 August.
