Samuel Eto'o sets his ambitions for Cameroonian football

During the Talents d'Afrique show on Canal+ Sport this Monday, Samuel Eto'o unveiled his ambitions for Cameroonian football.

After retiring from sports, Samuel Eto'o dedicated himself to managing local football. In 2021, he gained the trust of Cameroonian football stakeholders to run for the position of president of FECAFOOT. For the past four years, Eto'o has been committed to developing football in his country. This has always been his primary ambition since retiring from professional football. The former FC Barcelona player did not hide it when he was asked to unveil his projects on the Talents d'Afrique centrale show on Canal+ Sport on Monday.

"I have always wanted to serve football. I had the chance to get my coaching diplomas in Spain to understand what a coach thinks when I am facing him. I did a little bit of coaching and it went really well, but that's not what I wanted to do. I wanted to lead, to contribute to Cameroonian football, to African football," he revealed.

"People dream of becoming ministers, but when you are a minister you are a bit like in prison because you need permissions to travel, for example. I prefer to remain the president of the federation," continued Samuel Eto'o. Appointed to the CAF Executive Committee a few weeks ago, the former Chelsea player now has the responsibility not only to highlight Cameroonian football but also African football.
