"Saudi interest" Mateo Kovačić could leave Man City in January!

The past season was a difficult one for Mateo Kovačić due to injuries sustained with Manchester City, which kept him sidelined for extended periods as he worked on his recovery.

Numerous press reports from Europe indicate that the Croatian midfielder—formerly of Real Madrid and Chelsea—is attracting significant interest from Saudi and European clubs and may consider leaving this coming January.

Mateo Kovačić wants to leave Manchester City

Sources indicate that the experienced Croatian player wanted to leave Manchester City due to frustration following the arrival of Enzo Fernández, according to Kooora. However, it appears that the decision Kovacic is making to leave stems from reasons far deeper than that.

Kovačić received significant offers from Turkey and Italy, as well as massive financial offers from Saudi Arabia; however, the move stalled because the proposals did not meet the requirements of both Manchester City and the player, resulting in him remaining at the club.

But it is also true that, alongside his international commitments, he will have around 20 matches under his belt by the time the winter transfer window comes around, bearing in mind that his contract with the Sky Blues runs until the summer of 2027.

At that point, he will simply have to leave the Etihad Stadium, because at 32 years of age — and after spending last season bouncing between surgeries and recovery periods — Kovacic needs to play regularly and enjoy his football.
