Senegal: Abdoulaye Fall criticizes the "dominance" of certain players during Bab Tiaw's reign

On Monday, Abdoulaye Fall held an extensive press conference. The president of the Senegalese Football Federation laid out the reasons behind the departure of Bab Tiaw, who was dismissed following the "Lions of Teranga"'s 2-3 defeat to Belgium in the round of 16 at the World Cup.

Player influence on the coach

When discussing the atmosphere in the dressing room, Abdoulaye Fall delivered a harsh assessment. He pointed to internal "problems" and directly accused certain team leaders of wielding undue influence over the coach. He stated: "Some players began imposing their authority on Bab Tiaw. There were players nobody dared to leave out, others whom no one wanted to play, some who were not wanted in the squad, and even some whose return to the national team was unwelcome."

A divided dressing room?

The president linked this situation to Bab Gueye's decision to suspend his international career unless there were changes in the coaching staff. He stressed that technical issues had arisen, noting that "some players supported the coach, while others did not."
