Sevilla signs two young Madrid talents

Sevilla FC continues its transfer window with two promising additions. The Andalusian club has officially announced the arrivals of goalkeeper Fran González from Real Madrid and left-back Julio Díaz, transferred from Atlético de Madrid.

Fran González signs until 2031

The first official signing, Fran González, has inked a six-year contract, running until June 2031. To secure the services of the 21-year-old goalkeeper, Sevilla paid €3 million. Real Madrid, however, protected their interests by retaining 50% of any future resale, as well as a buy-back clause—a clear sign that the Madrid club still believes in their former player’s potential.

Trained at Cultural Leonesa before joining La Casa Blanca in 2022, Fran González made just one appearance for Real Madrid’s first team. He mainly played for the reserves, where he kept six clean sheets in 28 matches last season.

Julio Díaz leaves Atlético

A few days earlier, Sevilla had also announced the signing of Julio Díaz. The 21-year-old left-back joins for a fee of around €1 million, with an additional €500,000 in potential bonuses.

As with Fran González, his former club negotiated a percentage on any future sale, a sign of their intent to maintain a financial stake in the player’s development. A true product of Atlético’s academy, Julio Díaz made his La Liga debut last season with four appearances and even provided an assist—against Sevilla. For Sevilla, the challenge now will be to give these two prospects enough playing time to turn this sporting gamble into a success story.
