The future of Alexis Sánchez could take an unexpected turn. With his contract at Sevilla FC set to expire on June 30, the Chilean forward seemed destined for a return to South America, where several clubs from his homeland and Brazil were closely monitoring his situation.

But the 37-year-old veteran's plans may be about to change. According to the Spanish press, concrete talks are underway between Sevilla FC and the player's representatives regarding a contract extension.

New head coach Luis García Plaza is eager to retain the experience and leadership of the former Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, and Arsenal player. Sporting director José Ignacio Navarro has also expressed his desire to keep the Chilean, stating that the club will do whatever it takes to reach an agreement.
