Sid Ali Foughali, from the pitch to federal responsibilities
From club football to federal responsibilities, Sid Ali Foughali is continuing his development in a new environment. At 33, the former player who came through AJ Auxerre and was involved in youth development in Geneva has been appointed technical adviser to the president of the Niger Football Federation (FENIFOOT). A new role that extends a career built through a range of different experiences.
From experience on the pitch to Auxerre
Before turning his attention to coaching and institutional responsibilities, Sid Ali Foughali first played the game. His time at AJ Auxerre was one of the stages of that journey. He notably took part in a Burgundy Cup match against Châtillon, in which he scored during an Auxerre victory.

This experience allowed him to discover the demands of competition and club life. But his journey was not limited to playing the game. Over time, another dimension of football became part of his career: passing on knowledge.
Youth development as a new experience
It was in Switzerland, in the canton of Geneva, that Sid Ali Foughali then became involved in coaching. At Lancy-Florimont, he worked with C juniors, alongside young players who were making significant progress. This change of role led him to approach football differently.

Beyond individual performances and results, working with young players involves supporting them, encouraging their development and contributing to the cohesion of the group. It is an experience different from that of a player, but one that follows naturally from his commitment to football. Building on these stages, Sid Ali Foughali is now continuing his career in a more institutional setting.
FENIFOOT, a new dimension
His appointment as technical adviser to the president of FENIFOOT does indeed represent a change in scale. After working on the pitch and in club development, he is joining a national federation, where the challenges extend beyond the framework of a single team. The role gives him the opportunity to draw on the experience he gained in France and Switzerland, while discovering the realities and priorities of Nigerian football.

His role is part of the federal presidency’s environment, where he will deal with technical issues related to the national game. At 33, this appointment represents a new stage in his professional career. It places him in a different working environment, with new contacts and different challenges, while extending the common thread running through his journey: remaining committed to football and contributing to its development.
