Spain: the big salary awaiting Luis de la Fuente upon his contract extension
As announced, Luis de la Fuente is set to extend his contract as head coach of La Roja. The extension will help the Spanish manager earn a little more.
Luis de la Fuente is very close to extending his contract with Spain until 2030. The La Roja manager will also benefit from a very significant salary increase. According to information from Cadena SER, the Spanish manager is expected to earn between €4 million and €5 million gross per season under his new contract, compared with around €2 million currently.
The increase would allow the recent world champion to join the circle of the five highest-paid national team managers in the world. De la Fuente has also asked the Spanish Federation to increase the salaries of the members of his staff.
If completed, this new agreement will ensure that he remains at the helm of the Spanish national team when it attempts to defend its world title on home soil in 2030. As a reminder, Spain will co-host the 2030 World Cup with Morocco and Portugal. Since taking charge, de la Fuente's Spain has been defeated only twice in 41 official matches.
