Steve Barker's Simba SC move top of table
Stever Barker's Simba SC moved to the summit of the NBC Tanzania Premier League after after a 2-1 victory over Pamba Jiji on Wednesday afternoon.
Zambian attacking midfielder Clatous Chama broke the deadlock in the 19th minute after a scramble in the hosts' box.
Former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Anicet Oura doubled the lead with a glancing header 12 minutes later, allowing the visitors to assert their dominance.
Simba, however, were reduced to 10 men in the 44th minute as midfielder Ibraheem Jabaar was shown a straight red card after elbowing an opponent.
Pamba Jiji pulled one back in the 72nd minute as Idriss Diomande converted from the spot, but Simba held on for maximum points.
Barker's troops, as a result, are two points clear at the top of the Tanzanian topflight standings, having picked up six points in the opening two matches.
Notably, Simba commenced their 2026/27 campaign with a 2-0 win at the expense of Kagera Sugar over the weekend.
The 22-time Tanzanian champions will now switch focus to Singida Black Stars in their next league outing on Saturday, 22 August.
