Süper Lig: Mame Thiam, second highest Senegalese scorer in history
One goal. That's what Mame Thiam needed to make history for Senegalese football in Turkey. On Monday, during the 31st round of the Süper Lig, the Eyüpspor forward found the back of the net in a commanding display against Demirspor (6-0). This achievement brings his total to 68 goals in the Turkish league.
With this tally, Mame Thiam officially surpasses Moussa Sow, a Fenerbahçe icon, who was stuck at 67 goals. The 32-year-old thus becomes the second highest Senegalese scorer in the history of the Süper Lig. Ahead of him, one final peak to reach: Mbaye Diagne, the current leader with 76 goals. Thiam is eight goals shy of this record. At this pace, he could well surpass it as early as next season.
