Thomas Tuchel starts with a win with England

A successful debut for Thomas Tuchel. Without dazzling, England dominated Albania (2-0) to kick off the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on a positive note. The German, freshly appointed as the head of the Three Lions, saw his team control the game... without being spectacular.

Myles Lewis-Skelly quickly opened the scoring. In the 20th minute, the Arsenal prodigy finished off a brilliant pass from Jude Bellingham. England then dominated but lacked efficiency. Bellingham, Kane, and Burn all missed clear chances.

Tuchel reacted. He made offensive changes in the last quarter of an hour. A rewarding choice. In the 77th minute, Declan Rice crossed, Harry Kane followed up and scored his 70th goal with England. Game over.

This victory immediately places England at the top of Group K. For Tuchel, it's an encouraging first step. The former Bayern coach will still need to refine his team, but the essential is secured: a win to start the journey.
