Togo Independence Cup 2025: Second division clubs take the spotlight
The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) has made an unprecedented decision for the 2025 edition of the Independence Cup. For the first time, it will not be first division clubs competing in the final, but two second division teams: DYTO FC, leader of Pool A, and SEMASSI FC, leader of Pool B. The match will take place on Sunday, April 27 at 3:30 PM GMT at the Stade Omnisports in Lomé, with free entry for the public.
Indeed, the Independence Cup, which celebrates the national holiday, is usually contested by D1 clubs. The FTF has opted for a direct final between the two clubs leading Pools A and B of the D2, without the traditional draw or a multi-team competition, "due to the very tight D1 Lonato schedule." ASCK, the current titleholder, will thus pass the torch to one of these two D2 clubs.
