Trabzonspor finally [secures] the future of Cameroonian André Onana
André Onana's strong showings in a Trabzonspor shirt have persuaded the Turkish club's hierarchy to make their move. Having featured in 34 matches last season and already turning out eight times during his current loan spell, the Cameroonian international has established himself as a cornerstone of the side.
With that success in mind, club president Ertugrul Dogan has opted to get ahead of the game by laying the groundwork for a permanent deal, according to reports from Turkish Football. The ambition for the Istanbul-based outfit is to seal the 30-year-old goalkeeper's full-time arrival before the current campaign wraps up, thereby heading off the risk of a fierce transfer battle in the next off-season.
Negotiations are still ongoing
A formal dialogue is expected to get underway between the two clubs soon, with the winter transfer window fast approaching. It's worth recalling that the initial loan arrangement contained no purchase option, yet it carried potential financial benefits for Manchester United tied to Trabzonspor's collective results.
Even so, despite the intentions voiced by both sides, those close to the former Ajax man are in no rush to decide on his future, as Africafoot exclusively reported.
Still under contract with the Red Devils until 2028, the Nkol Ngok native is currently valued at €8 million. While in England, André Onana was earning an annual salary of €7,190,000.
