Trabzonspor: Franculino Djú, an increasingly serious rival for Onuachu

With four goals and one assist in five matches, Franculino Djú has been particularly effective since joining Trabzonspor. Paul Onuachu's latest injury, sustained on Thursday, October 15 against KuPS Kuopio in the Conference League, could give the Guinea-Bissauan forward more playing time and reignite the competition for a starting spot.

Franculino Djú takes advantage of every opportunity to stand out. At 22, the Guinea-Bissauan forward continues to make decisive contributions despite limited playing time. His performances have allowed him to move closer to Paul Onuachu in Trabzonspor's attacking hierarchy, while the Nigerian's absence could reshuffle the pecking order.

On Thursday, during Trabzonspor's away match at KuPS Kuopio, Onuachu opened the scoring before leaving his teammates through injury in the 10th minute. Franculino Djú replaced him and also found the back of the net. This latest goal confirms his effectiveness when coming off the bench and strengthens his case for a more important role in the team.

Franculino Djú continues to make decisive contributions

The Guinea-Bissauan forward's performances are not limited to European competitions. In the league, he scored against Gençlerbirliği in Trabzonspor's 5-0 victory on September 6, then against Samsunspor on October 10. He also provided an assist against Galatasaray.

With four goals and one assist in five matches, Franculino has posted a particularly promising attacking record. He converts the chances he gets and provides his coach with an additional option. This efficiency contrasts with his still-limited playing time and could justify a more prominent role in the attacking rotation.

The forward has also demonstrated his effectiveness with the national team. According to the statistics released, he scored in each of his last two appearances for Guinea-Bissau. His performances for club and country therefore strengthen his case for being given greater responsibilities at Trabzonspor.

Onuachu's injury reignites the competition

The situation of Paul Onuachu could accelerate his rival's progress. The Nigerian had already left the field injured during the match against Gençlerbirliği after scoring twice in Trabzonspor's 5-0 victory. On Thursday, against KuPS Kuopio, he again had to give up his place, allowing Franculino Djú to make his mark.

The Guinea-Bissauan now has another opportunity to convince his coach. If he maintains his scoring form, he could move up the pecking order in the Turkish club's attack, particularly if Onuachu's absence is extended.

The Nigerian nevertheless retains significant advantages thanks to his experience and influence in the attacking department. The competition will also depend on his physical condition and his ability to return to the pitch quickly.

Franculino Djú has not yet established himself as a Trabzonspor starter, but his statistics give him a strong case. His next appearances could determine whether he remains an effective substitute or manages to permanently challenge the hierarchy at the head of the attack.
