Transfer market: Paul Onuachu heading back to Turkey
The future of Paul Onuachu seems to be far from England. The Nigerian international finds his future at Southampton uncertain after a tough season in the Premier League, marked by relegation. His contribution of four goals and one assist in 23 appearances during the 2024/2025 campaign was not enough to keep the Saints from finishing last.
Among the potential next destinations for the former KRC Genk star, Turkey's Süper Lig is at the forefront. His successful loan at Trabzonspor during the 2023-2024 season, where he scored 17 goals in 25 matches, has reignited his appeal in Turkey. With the summer transfer window just weeks away, Paul Onuachu is on the radar of Besiktas and Göztep.
Beşiktaş has made the former Genk player their top offensive target. The Istanbul club plans to engage in discussions with Southampton for a summer transfer, aiming to offer Onuachu a two-year contract. Trabzonspor, his former club, also remains in the running. Turkish officials are considering a bid combining cash (€8M) and a player, despite the Saints' initial demands set at €15M. Negotiations are expected to intensify after the conclusion of the European championships.
