Transfer market: Swedish club targets Benjamin Asare

Benjamin Asare could be on his way out of Hearts of Oak and heading to Europe. According to Ghanasoccernet.com, Västerås SK is among the clubs interested in the Ghanaian international goalkeeper.

A goalkeeper watched in Europe

At 34 years old, Benjamin Asare has played for Hearts of Oak since his move from Great Olympics in the summer of 2024. Since then, he has made 46 official appearances for the club. His performances have also earned him a key role with the Black Stars. The goalkeeper has 14 caps for Ghana and took part in the last World Cup.

Asare played three matches during the tournament, including a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against England. Västerås SK, however, is not alone in the race. Hertha Berlin and Fortaleza are also reportedly interested, though Hearts of Oak have not received any official offers at this stage.

Hearts of Oak hold the cards

Asare's contract with Hearts of Oak runs until the summer of 2027, with an option for an additional year. The Ghanaian club is therefore under no immediate pressure to sell their goalkeeper.

This situation could allow the club's management to take their time before responding to the various approaches. For Benjamin Asare, however, a move to Europe at 34 would mark a major milestone in his career. The question remains whether Västerås or one of the other suitors will decide to make a swift move.
