Transfer window: final hours to finalise transfers in Europe
The summer of 2026 was marked by a number of high-profile transfers. This Monday, 1 September, clubs in the five major European leagues have just a few hours left to sign the players they are after.
Transfer window closes on Monday 31 August in Germany and France
Two leagues have already closed their transfer windows as of Monday evening. After this deadline, no new contracts can be registered in these two leagues.
- Germany (Bundesliga): 8.00 pm CEST
- France (Ligue 1): 8.00 pm CEST
Italy, England and Spain until Tuesday 1 September
Three other major leagues have been granted an extension until Tuesday.
- Italy (Serie A): 8.00 pm CEST
- Spain (La Liga): 11.59 pm CEST
- England (Premier League): 11.00 pm BST, i.e. midnight CEST
In England, there is a grace period. Clubs will have until 02:00 CEST on the night of 2 September to finalise a transfer, provided they have submitted a preliminary registration form before the official midnight deadline.
NB: All times mentioned are in Central European Time.
The race against the clock is therefore on for the final moves of the summer transfer window.
