Transfer window: The 10 biggest transfers of summer 2026

With nearly two billion euros already spent, English clubs once again dominate the market, accounting for the majority of the summer's major deals.

A ranking that's still provisional

As of August 5, 2026, the Premier League is involved in nine of the ten most expensive transfers of the summer window. Eight of those deals brought players into the English top flight. The only exception to this dominance is Gonçalo Ramos's move from Paris Saint-Germain to AC Milan.

This ranking remains provisional, as the market is still open and several major deals could yet be finalized.

Morgan Rogers, transferred from Aston Villa to Chelsea for €137.3 million.
Elliot Anderson, transferred from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for €135 million.
Sandro Tonali, transferred from Newcastle to Tottenham for €108 million.
Mateus Fernandes, transferred from West Ham to Tottenham for around €99 million.
Bruno Guimarães, transferred from Newcastle to Arsenal for €87 million.
Anthony Gordon, transferred from Newcastle to FC Barcelona for €80 million.
Gonçalo Ramos, transferred from PSG to AC Milan for €74 million.
Jérémy Jacquet, transferred from Stade Rennais to Liverpool for €63 million.
Jan Paul van Hecke, transferred from Brighton to Tottenham for €60 million.
Johan Manzambi, transferred from Freiburg to Aston Villa for €60 million.

Topping the list, Chelsea signs Morgan Rogers and breaks the English transfer record. The England international edges out Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali, with all of the top three deals surpassing the €100 million mark.

Tottenham buys, Newcastle sells

The ten transfers total approximately €903.3 million. The nine deals involving an English club alone account for €829.3 million, while the eight arrivals in the Premier League add up to €749.3 million.

Tottenham sits at the heart of this ranking. The Spurs have brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined outlay of around €267 million.

In contrast, Newcastle appears three times as a selling club. The departures of Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, and Anthony Gordon have brought the Magpies around €275 million.

The Premier League nears two billion euros

According to Transfermarkt data as of August 5, 2026, English clubs have already spent about €1.94 billion during the 2026-2027 transfer window. That averages out to nearly €96.8 million per team and results in a negative balance of roughly €808 million.

The Premier League thus remains, yet again, the biggest spender on the market. This trend continues an established pattern, as the Premier League is spending more than the other four major European leagues combined at the start of the 2026 window.

Its dominance isn't just about attracting the world's best players. Transfers between English clubs themselves are also reaching astronomical sums, fueled by massive TV rights revenues and commercial income that most other European leagues can only dream of.
