TS Galaxy star set to complete move to Tanzania

Foot Africa has established that TS Galaxy goalkeeper Kayode Bankole is nearing a move to newly promoted NBC Tanzania Premier League side Geita Gold FC.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper joined the Betway Premiership outfit on a free transfer from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) team Remo Stars last year in October.

He had spent five years with the one-time Nigerian champions, keeping 43 clean sheets in 93 matches, in addition to two Goalkeeper of the Season accolades.

His exploits in the Nigerian topflight earned him a solitary cap for the Super Eagles as he made his debut against Costa Rica in an international friendly match in November 2022.

However, his move to TS Galaxy failed to pay dividends, with the player serving as deputy to first-choice goalkeeper Tape Ira without making a single appearance.

Notably, the lanky goalie has reportedly penned a new two-year deal with the Mpumalanga side, further pushing Bankole down the pecking order.

Now, sources have informed this publication the Tanzanian club Geita Gold FC are close to securing the services of Bankole on a one-year contract from the Rockets.

Geita Gold FC are understood to have struck a club-to-club agreement with TS Galaxy, who were open to sanctioning an exit, with personal terms left to be ironed out.

The Nigeria international will be looking to get his career back on track with the topflight returnees, who clinched the second-tier championship with 77 points last season.
