Orlando Pirates attacker Tshepang Moremi has made an honest admission that there's added responsibility on his and Oswin Appollis' shoulders following the departure of talisman Relebohile Mofokeng.

The 21-year-old sensation has signed for Belgian Pro League outfit Union Saint-Gilloise, inking a four-year deal that runs until June 2030 with an option to extend for a further year.

He left on the back of helping Pirates clinch a domestic treble which includes a league title last season, where he scored 11 goals with nine assists across all competitions.

With the 2026/27 campaign fast approaching, Moremi admits that he, alongside Appollis, have to fill the void left by Mofokeng but insists the team is raring to go for next season.

“I think there's more responsibilities and we have to be accountable because Rele left myself and Oswin, so we're going to work hard, pick up from what we did last season and pull up our socks,” said the speedy Bucs winger.

"But all I can say is that we are ready, everyone was putting in the work even during pre-season. Overall, I am happy with the guys' performances in training.

On Mofokeng following in the footsteps of Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi by securing a move abroad from Pirates, the former AmaZulu FC star says the transfers can only pave way for future exports from Mayfair.

“I think they are paving the way for the rest of us because you'll never know that next season I might be the one leaving, or Oswin, or someone else,” added Moremi, who scored 11 goals and laid five assists last season.

"So, I think they worked really hard in paving the way for the rest of us. We must just take over from them and move on.

Meanwhile, the defending Betway Premiership champions will commence their 2026/27 season with a clash against rookies Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, 01 August.
