Tunisia: Hervé Renard’s message to Sabri Lamouchi
Hervé Renard has been appointed head coach of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia during this 2026 World Cup. The French tactician even sent a message to Sabri Lamouchi.
Following Tunisia’s heavy defeat against Sweden (5-1), Sabri Lamouchi was immediately dismissed. Just hours after taking the helm, Hervé Renard made clear he has plenty of ambition. At his introductory press conference, he wasted no time showing his determination.
“When I was contacted, I didn’t hesitate for a second. In football, as long as there’s life, there’s hope. And on top of that, it’s a World Cup—something truly exceptional. I know the passion surrounding this event, and that’s what motivated me to come. It’s a challenge that’s far from easy, but it’s incredibly motivating.” he stated.
The Eagles’ new boss had a message for his predecessor: “I know Sabri (Lamouchi) personally, and when this happens to a coach, I always put myself in his shoes because I’ve been through it in my own career, and it hurts a lot. He deserves recognition. He’s the one who took the fall for that failed first match, and I’m sure the players know it and feel sorry for him.”
