U17 Women's World Cup: Nigeria joins a tough group B
Qualifying for the 9th time in 10 editions of the U17 Women's World Cup, Nigeria finds itself in a fiercely competitive group.
The draw was far from kind to the Nigerians. In group B, the Flamingos will face DPR Korea, two-time defending champions, as well as Poland and Puerto Rico.
But Nigeria has the pedigree to emerge from this group, thanks to their wealth of experience at this level. Indeed, this marks their 9th appearance in 10 tournaments. Seasoned on the big stage, the Flamingos boast four quarter-final finishes and a third-place podium in 2022.
To get here, they overcame Benin in the third round of qualifiers, winning 3-2 in the first leg and 5-3 in the return. There was no feeling-out period for the Nigerians, who continue to prove themselves as a powerhouse in African women's football.
