U20 friendly: Senegal’s Young Lions beat DR Congo
It’s all over at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium. In their first friendly match of the preparations, Senegal’s U20 Young Lions beat DR Congo 2-1.
A first success before meeting again
Alassane Gueye and Adama Sagne scored for Senegal. The U20 Leopards pulled one back late in the match through Mongo Kalombo. A first important success for the young Senegalese players, who are preparing for the qualifiers of the 2027 Ghana U20 Africa Cup of Nations. The two teams will meet again on October 4 for the second friendly.
Focus on Bamako
This two-match series serves as preparation for the UFOA-A U20 tournament, whose draw took place in Bamako on Thursday. The defending champions, Senegal have been placed in Group B alongside Mauritania, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau. The competition will be held from October 15 to 31, 2026, in Bamako, with two qualifying spots for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
