U20: Senegal dominate DR Congo again and build confidence
After their 2-1 win in the first match at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium, Senegal U20 did it again against DR Congo. The Young Lions won 3-0, with one-way traffic in the second half.
A perfect start
The tone was set from the outset. In the 11th minute, Alassane Gueye kept his cool from the penalty spot to quickly give the young Senegalese side the lead. Despite their advantage, Senegal were unable to extend their lead before half-time. It was not until the final quarter of the match that the Young Lions stepped up the pace.
The second half makes the difference
In the 83rd minute, Moussa Gueye rose higher than everyone else and headed home an unstoppable effort from a pinpoint delivery by Ahmadou Bamba Faye. The game was put beyond doubt. Five minutes later, Adama Sagne completed the rout. With a superb shot into the top corner, he definitively sealed the match and secured a convincing win for his team.
Focus turns to UFOA B
This is a fine rehearsal for Malick Daf's side, who are preparing for the UFOA B tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Scheduled to take place from October 15 to 31, 2026, in Bamako, the competition will see Senegal, the defending champions, compete in Group B alongside Mauritania, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau.
