The dream lives on for the Benin U20 Amazons. Traveling to Egypt, they secured a 1-0 victory over the Egyptians in the third and penultimate round of the U20 Women's World Cup qualifiers.

On the Annexe 2 pitch of the June 30 Stadium in Cairo, the Beninese delivered a resolute and disciplined performance. The match remained evenly poised for a long time before swinging in Benin’s favor in the 68th minute, courtesy of a sensational strike from Romaine Gandonou, who scored a stunning goal from over 45 meters out.

This away win puts Benin in a strong position ahead of the return leg, scheduled for Friday, February 13, in Lomé. Having already eliminated Guinea and DR Congo, the Beninese squad continues their campaign with confidence and determination, nurturing more than ever the dream of a continental and global triumph.
