U23 AFCON qualifiers: Kenya take a big step against Tanzania

Kenya put on a show at home. At Nairobi's Nyayo National Stadium, the Emerging Stars crushed Tanzania 4-1 in the first-leg first round of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

A show of strength

Inspired by their home crowd, Kenya quickly took control. Dominant in possession, they launched wave after wave of attacks and deservedly made the difference. A convincing 4-1 victory rewarded their dominance. With a three-goal lead, Kenya head into the second leg with a considerable advantage and qualification already looking within reach. However, they will still need to remain focused to secure their place.

Côte d'Ivoire through to the second round

The second leg is scheduled for October 6 in Dar es Salaam. With their backs to the wall, Tanzania will need to produce a monumental upset to turn the tie around. The winner of this two-legged tie will face Côte d'Ivoire in the second and final round of these U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
