U23 AFCON qualifying: Angola thrash Namibia (5-0) and advance to the second round

They were simply too strong. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Angola's U23 side crushed Namibia 5-0 in the second leg at Gaborone National Stadium and advance to the second round of the 2027 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

An emphatic turnaround

There was no contest at 11 November Stadium. Up against it after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Angola's U23 side brought out the big guns to beat Namibia 5-0 in the second leg at Botswana National Stadium. An attacking festival that sends the Palancas Negras through to the second round of qualifying.

Republic of Congo await in the second round

The young Angolans quickly took control of the match, leaving an overwhelmed Namibia with no chance. With this 6-1 aggregate success across the two legs, Angola reaffirm their ambitions for the 2027 Africa U23 Cup of Nations. In the next round, the opponent will be tougher: the Republic of Congo. A decisive two-legged tie for a place in the final tournament.
