UEFA Champions League: Manchester United–Como under threat of postponement
The Italian club Como, managed by Spanish coach Cesc Fàbregas, are preparing to take on a major European challenge by hosting Manchester United on Wednesday in the third matchday of the league phase of the current season’s Champions League.
Como will hope to build on their recent 3-1 victory over Fiorentina, unlike their opponents, Manchester United, who are looking to end their points drought after six consecutive matches without a win, including a 2-0 defeat to Atlético de Madrid and a 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Doubt hangs over the match between Como and Manchester United
According to British outlet ( talkSPORT ), the match is at risk of postponement due to poor weather conditions in northern Italy, after an orange alert was issued, with forecasts predicting more than 60 mm of rain before kick-off.
Despite these conditions, Como remain confident that the match will take place as scheduled.
Fàbregas defends Carrick ahead of clash with the Red Devils
In the same context, Fàbregas refused to comment on the possibility of becoming Manchester United manager one day, as Michael Carrick faces pressure because of the team’s run of negative results.
The Como manager said at the press conference ahead of tonight’s match: « I will not answer that question, because I think it is an inappropriate question. »
He added: « I do not think that shows sufficient respect for a great player and coach like Michael Carrick, who manages a major team like Manchester United. »
