UFOA-A U17: Assane Sarr named best goalkeeper despite final defeat

Senegal lost the final, but its individual talents shone. Assane Sarr was named the best goalkeeper of the UFOA A U17 tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations, after five matches without conceding a single goal in regulation time.

An impenetrable wall

Unbeatable on his line throughout the tournament, the Ndangane FC player started all five matches without conceding a single goal from open play. His solidity allowed the Young Lions to reach the final without ever looking troubled, before they fell 3-5 to Gambia on penalties.

A gem with a third Golden Glove

This is not a first for the 16-year-old goalkeeper. Already named best goalkeeper during Senegal's triumph in Bamako in 2025, and then at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations won in Morocco, Sarr adds a third individual trophy to his collection.
