UFOA-B AFCON U-20: The semifinal matchups
On Wednesday, August 5th, Stade Charles Konan Banny will host the semifinals of the UFOA-B U20 Tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the 2027 AFCON in Ghana. As the host nation, Ghana has already secured its spot for the next AFCON. That means only one ticket remains for the eventual champion.
Côte d'Ivoire vs Nigeria: The hosts challenge the reigning champions
The opening clash will see the Baby Elephants take on the Flying Eagles at 14:00 GMT. It's a heavyweight battle. Côte d'Ivoire made a statement right from the start, thrashing Benin 5-0 before dispatching Niger 2-0. Two wins, no goals conceded, and the home crowd behind them.
On the other side, defending champions Nigeria started strong, beating Ghana 4-2 and crushing Togo 3-0 before surrendering the top spot in Group B after a 0-2 loss to Burkina Faso. The Nigerians are determined to reclaim their crown.
Burkina Faso vs Niger: Two trajectories, one goal
The second semifinal kicks off at 18:00 GMT, pitting two neighbors against each other: Burkina Faso and Niger.
Undefeated leaders of Group B, the Stallions U20s beat Togo 3-1, held Ghana to a 1-1 draw, and toppled the defending champs Nigeria 2-0.
As for Niger, they've played just two matches. The Mena U20s kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win over Benin before falling to Côte d'Ivoire. They'll need something special to reach the final.
The winner of each semifinal will punch their ticket to the UFOA-B final. The eventual champion will go on to represent West Zone B at the 2027 U-20 AFCON.
