Trailing on the scoreboard, Côte d’Ivoire’s Elephants managed to fight their way back into the game and secure a draw (1-1) against Niger. The result gets their campaign in the UFOA-B qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 AFCON underway.
Côte d’Ivoire’s Elephants shared the points with their Nigerien counterparts (1-1) in their opening match of the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U17, organized by the West African Football Union (UFOA), Zone B.
After falling behind when Niger’s Ibrahim Aboubacar opened the scoring in the 17th minute, the young Elephants had to chase the game. Determined to get back into the match, the Ivorians eventually found a breakthrough through Komi Christ, who scored in the 54th minute.
The equalizer allowed the Ivorian team to draw level with their opponents and avoid defeat in their first match of the competition. Despite this result, the Elephants will have to quickly regroup to approach the remainder of the tournament with greater efficiency.
A second meeting against Nigeria
