Villarreal: Pape Gueye targeted by Al-Ahli
This summer, Al-Ahli is on the hunt for reinforcements in midfield. In this context, the Saudi club has set its sights on Pape Gueye (27 years old, 39 appearances and 5 goals in all competitions with Villarreal in the 2025-2026 season).
According to information from the French daily L'Equipe, the Saudi club Al-Ahli is eager to attract the Villarreal player, who previously played for Le Havre and Marseille. Indeed, alongside the Franck Kessié file—where the club is now considering extending his contract after previously announcing his departure at the start of July—Al-Ahli has activated other targets to strengthen its midfield. One of those leads is Pape Gueye (27), the former OM and Le Havre midfielder.

However, the Saudi Pro League side still needs to convince both the Spanish club and the Senegal international, which is far from a done deal. Under contract until June 2028, the Senegalese international was named the best African player in La Liga last season.
