We concede stupid goals - Fernando da Cruz
Interview
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has bemoaned the manner in which his side easily gets bypassed, stating that they are conceding stupid goals after another setback over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys were held to a one-all draw by Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, with goalkeeper and captain Brandon Petersen beaten from a direct corner kick.
Having settled for yet another stalemate owing to recurring defensive errors, the Chiefs boss expressed disappointment, noting that Rise and Shine didn't pose significant threat for a large chunk of the match.
“It's disappointing because they just had good chances in the first half when Brandon made two very good saves, but after that they had nothing,” lamented da Cruz.
"We knew that they are very good in set-pieces, they are very good in the cross also. But when we concede this type of goal we can be disappointed.
While da Cruz is irked by the cheap goals his charges concede, he is pleased with the fact that Amakhosi are consistently finding the back of the net at the other end of the pitch, as they scored in all their league outings thus far.
“I'm very happy that we scored, we just concede stupid goals, so we need to look forward. But we are on the right track because every game we score goals, so we will continue to attack and develop our model game,” added the Frenchman.
Chiefs, sitting fourth with 12 points accumulated from their opening six matches in the Betway Premiership, return to action with a clash against Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
