West Africa U-20 Championship: The draw ignites fierce competition

The verdict is in. On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the West African Football Union (UFOA-B) conducted the draw for the Under-20 Championship.

Seven teams from the CAF West B Zone will compete in this qualifying tournament for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The teams are split into two groups. Group A features three teams: hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Niger. Group B promises even more intensity, with Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, and Burkina Faso battling it out. It’s already being dubbed the “Group of Death,” as only the top two teams will progress to the semifinals.

The tournament will take place in Yamoussoukro, from July 26 to August 9, 2026. The stakes are high, as both finalists will earn direct qualification for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, set to be held in Ghana.
